SOMETIMES IT IS THAT SIMPLE
Often companies look at data cable assemblies and try to over engineer them. It is always a good idea to look at what standard cables exist and see if one will work. If your product engineers need a 2 foot cable you may find that a 3 foot or 1 meter is standard and significantly cheaper.
MODIFY INSTEAD OF CREATE
Another challenge is when you need a cable that is standard on one end but has a unique connection on the other. Instead of building the cable from scratch it is often quicker and more economical to instead modify a standard mass-produced cable by cutting an end off and attaching the new connector.MAKE SURE YOUR SUPPLIER KNOWS THE INDUSTRY
The problem with many so called “datacomm cable suppliers” is that they are nothing more than importers who know some buzzwords.
